What is a cosmetic safety assessment?
A safety assessment is a way of determining wether your product is safe and complies with all EU-laws on cosmetics. All ingredients therefore need to be analysed to ascertain whether:
– Animal testing was involved: this is not allowed
– Production has taken place under Good Manufacturing Practice
– Ingredients are safe for use in cosmetics
– The product label contains all the requested information
Who may perform a cosmetic safety assessment?
You might try to do this in company but EC 1223/2009 requires that the safety assessor is a qualified chemist, toxicologist or pharmacist.
